If Windows shows the “This App Can’t Run on Your PC” error, there could be several reasons behind this problem. Sometimes the app is not compatible with your system, you are logged in to the wrong user account, or the installation is corrupted.

Luckily, there are a few fixes you can try. So, let’s get stuck and see how to fix “This App Can’t Run on Your PC” error.

Check App Version

If you download and install an application without checking its properties, it may not be compatible with your system. For example, you cannot run applications that are compatible with 32-bit versions of Windows and run them smoothly on 64-bit systems.

Before downloading the app, you should look at your system properties. Press the button Windows + I to open Settings and select System. Then, from the left menu, click About.

Part Device specifications will give you info about your system, including the version of Windows you have installed on your computer.

Run Apps In Compatibility Mode

You may encounter the “This app can’t run on your PC” error when trying to run old apps. To fix this, you have to enable Compatibility mode from the app properties.

Right-click the application’s executable file and select Properties. Open tab Compatibility, tick Run this program in compatibility mode for, and select a different version of Windows using the drop-down menu. Click Apply > OK to save the new settings and try running the app.

Run Copy of Executable File

This is an unusual trick but it might get the job done. Copy the app’s executable file and paste it to a new location. Then, run the copied file as usual.

Scan for Virus

Viruses can stop applications from running normally even if they are compatible with your system. You can use Windows’ built-in tools to search for any viruses on your computer. Here is how you can do it:

  • Right click Start and open Settings > Update & Security.
  • From the left menu, go to Windows Security and click Viruses & threat protection.
  • Click button Quick scan and wait for Windows to finish the process.

Run SFC Scan

If the Quick Scan tool doesn’t fix the problem, there are other Windows 10 features you can use. System File Checker will look for corrupt or corrupt system files and automatically replace them.

Open Command Prompt with administrative privileges and type sfc /scannow. To start the process, just press Enter. Once the SFC scan is complete, it will display a message letting you know if it has found and replaced any corrupted files on your system.

Use Disk Cleanup Tool

Your computer is constantly collecting junk files especially if you surf the internet a lot. If these files take up a lot of space on your hard drive, they can cause an application run error. The easiest way to delete these unnecessary files is to use Disk Cleanup.

  • In the menu search bar Start, search disk cleanup and select Run as administrator.
  • Select which files you want to clean. Disk Cleanup will show you how much space you will gain.
  • Click OK to start the process.

Reinstall Problematic Apps
