On this occasion I will discuss about the next stage, which is an important thing to do when opening a toy store. Especially about the technique in setting the layout.

How to Set Up a Toy Store Layout (Plus Other Important Info)

If we have fulfilled all the preparations in the previous article above, it means that everything is really ready and ripe. So the next step is:

#1. Make store shelves and displays that are neat, orderly and NOT Narrow.

Why do I emphasize the word not narrow?

Because the convenience of shoppers when shopping in our store, it is very important.

If anyone chirp : “bang izal, my shop big and it’s spacious, isn’t it a shophouse, you know,,, so no problemo!”

Wow, if the shop is already spacious and big, yes, just ignore this number one point. hehehe ,

The problem is that not everyone is lucky and can afford to rent a big shop. Because the rental price is definitely exorbitant. while the existing capital is minimal alias mediocre.

Well, how to outsmart such conditions, so in this article I will discuss.

Including this number one point, which is optimizing a store that is small but can look spacious, spacious and comfortable.

If our shop is small and we can’t arrange the layout properly, it can make the toy display look messy. The categories became disorganized and jumbled.

And all of that can be fatal.

In addition to making buyers crowded, the toys are also difficult to find.
As a result, buyers feel uncomfortable and bete in our shop.
If the impression when you first come to the store is not good, then there is little hope that the buyer will come shopping again the next time.

So, what is a good store display layout and design?

Take a look at the layout of one of my branch stores below.

In 2014 thank God I was able to open a toy shop again. I happened to get a shop which is small in width (2.5 meters), but long very to the back (total length is 12 meters).

It’s like a train, isn’t it? Hehehe. .

Now for the store conditions as above, what is the most appropriate display rack model and layout?

So to outsmart the store so that it doesn’t get narrower, don’t make shelves that are too wide. Make a shelf that is small in width, but maximized the length of the shelf from front to back.

So the shelves don’t take up too much of the store’s width.
But still can accommodate the maximum number of toys. Seen in the photo above, I used elbows that are 25 cm wide, if the total width of the shelves on both sides of the shop is to take up about 50 cm, so there is still a decent amount of space left in the middle of the 2 meter store.

So friends, how’s the layout and design of the shop? nice and relaxing right?

If the stock of goods in our store increases, then it can be maximized on the roof of the shop, the way is by making hanging displays, like the photo below:

So the point :

Although over time the stock of goods in our stores is getting full, but the arrangement and layout will still be neat. Each shelf clearly corresponds to its respective category.

Not narrow.


Not stuffy.


No mess and no mess.

The remote car rack is clear where it is.
The remote drone/helicopter rack is also clear where it is.
The toys section of local products (toys without components/manual play) is also clear where the place is.

The roof is used as much as possible for a toy that can be hung.

So all areas of the store can have their respective functions and places. So that buyers not only feel comfortable, they are also easy to find the toys they want

The layout, the type of toy category and the arrangement of the displays are very important to note. If buyers feel comfortable every time they shop at our store, then they will definitely come back again to shop next time.

#2. Shop for stock items according to the priority scale and our capital capabilities.


The point is this, if we want to open a toy business but the capital is mediocre, the way to outsmart it is to shop for locally made products first.
Because local products are cheap and large in size, they can make our shop look full and the goods look a lot.

For example, if we only have a capital of around 75 million, with the details for a shop rental of 20 million, make a shelf of 5 million, the rest for the contents of 50 million goods.

If with capital that’s how we chase lust buy more expensive imported goods, maybe the contents of our shop will not be how much or very little.

I’ll give you an easy example. The 50 million money is for the capital to buy a Camera Drone as below, at most you can only get about 100 pcs of goods! wkwkwkwkwk

Therefore, at the beginning of opening a business and the capital is minimal, we recommend that for expensive toys such as the drone above, we only need to stock 1 or 2 pcs. The important thing is that if a buyer asks for the item, the product is available.

So, when our store is growing, it’s okay to slowly start increasing the stock of good and expensive toys.

Back to topic.

Local products are toy products made by the Indonesian domestic industry. Famous factories include those in Tangerang and Cimahi, West Java.

Among the well-known locally made products is the KPM brand (the work of independent sons).
This local factory produces a lot of toys that are large and can be climbed by children. One of the best-selling flagship products of KPM is a toy Jeep with the code V00-2A.

Now there are also local factories that have been able to produce quality component toys, but at low prices. Its production includes toys that can be played with batteries (battery operation) and remote control models.

Among the well-known products are the HKR brand remote control car, a toy factory produced by SMK. This toy is not inferior in quality to toys imported from China. And what makes it even more delicious is because the capital price is cheaper, about 10% of the price of imported toys.

One of the best-selling products made by SMK in the market is the RC Quick Drift HKR. This remote car every Eid sells very well like fried peanut in my shop. Because apart from being cheap, the quality is also quite good.

#3. PROMOTION.

The other most important part when starting a toy business is promotion.

But it’s a shame, friends, the discussion of this promotion actually requires a fairly long review. Meanwhile, I see that the allotted space for writing in this blogger draft is almost stuck. hehehe
