How to Clean Ceramic with Cement?

How to clean ceramic with cement – A condition that often occurs and is difficult to avoid when we build a house, is the presence of cement that is scattered and hits the ceramic surface.

Why is it so hard to avoid?

Because when you squish the walls of the house, there must be residual cement that falls to the floor and hits the tiles. Indeed, it can be tricked by finishing the walls first, then installing the ceramics. However, there is still a risk that the ceramic will get splashed by cement when you install it.

Even if you are very careful so that the surface of the ceramic is not exposed to cement, there is still a chance that the ceramic will be exposed to droplets of liquid cement.

Through what?

That is when the handyman brings the cement mortar using a bucket into the room of the house that is being built. Well, there will definitely be drops of cement water that fall through the bucket and hit the ceramic surface.

The point is that ceramics will definitely be exposed to liquid cement when building a house. And actually it is a common thing, because it is impossible to avoid 100%.

But of course we have to keep trying so that the liquid cement that hits the ceramics can be kept to a minimum. Therefore, try to install the ceramic carefully. So that no part of the cement is scattered and hits the ceramic surface.

But if there are ceramics that have been exposed to cement, is there an effective way to clean them?

The most effective way, of course, is to clean it as soon as possible. Wet cement is still very easy to clean. Simply wipe with a damp cloth, then the cement that just sticks will be clean instantly.

However, what if the cement attached to the ceramic has already dried?

Cement that has dried on ceramic is indeed more difficult to clean.

But you don’t have to worry too much.

Because there are several special ways to clean ceramics that have cement.

Let’s see the full method in the following explanation.

1. By Using Ceramic Cleaner

These ceramic cleaners are widely sold in material stores at relatively cheap prices. Usually available with different brands and sizes. Although the composition is different, the method of use is more or less the same.

Including the following :

  • The first step, wet a cloth then rub vigorously.
  • In the bucket, pour one ceramic cleaning cap.
  • Mix with half a bucket of water.
  • Using a brush, brush the ceramic cleaning mixture onto the ceramic surface affected by the cement.
  • Wait a few minutes for the cement that sticks to peel off by itself.
  • For maximum results, it can be repeated as before, but wait after the cement dries first.
  • After the cement is felt to peel, it can be doused with water.

2. Using Kitchen Vinegar

The next way to clean cemented ceramics is to use kitchen vinegar. All you need is a little water, vinegar, a floor brush and a spray bottle.

  • Mix with water until the bottle is full.
  • Shake the water along with the vinegar.
  • Then spray it onto the cement-affected ceramic surface.
  • Let stand a few moments until the vinegar dries.
  • Gently scrub with a floor brush until the cement peels off.
  • Finally, flush with water.

3. Using Lime Water

The method is more or less the same as cleaning cement on ceramics using a floor cleaner. It’s just that its use must be more careful, because the acid in lime can also damage the ceramic surface as a whole. Therefore, use only on ceramic surfaces that are exposed to cement.

  • Leave it on until it dries.
  • Scrub the tile with a floor brush.
  • Flush with water.
  • This step can be repeated, if it is felt that the cement is still attached to the ceramic.

4. With Baking Soda

Baking soda is quite effective in cleaning stains on some household appliances to carpentry. Some of them can also be used as a way to clean ceramics that are exposed to cement.

  • Scrub the cement-affected tiles with a dry cloth or floor brush.
  • Flush with water and clean off any baking soda that may remain.

The last way to clean ceramics with cement is to use starfruit. The acid contained in starfruit is almost the same as that found in lime. This acid is believed to be effective in cleaning cement on ceramics.

  • Glue the grated starfruit on the surface of the ceramic that is exposed to cement.
  • Wait between 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Only then scrub with a rag or floor brush.
  • Flush with water until the ceramic looks clean, and the cement that has stuck has peeled off and is carried away by the water.

Those are some ways to clean ceramics that have cement. Of all these methods, there are several ways that only use materials that we often encounter everyday. For maximum results, of course it cannot be done just once, it is recommended to do it repeatedly, until the cement peels off the ceramic surface.

Hopefully the above information can be useful for all of you.
