Twitter is one of the top websites that scammers often target. There are always Bitcoin scams trying to impersonate popular figures to scam people. The scammers reply to trending and popular tweets with their misinformation to deceive other users and take advantage of engagement in the tweet.
Apart from scammers, there are also trolls who just want to trap people with anything. Anyone can reply to your tweet. Twitter has been under constant criticism for years and now it’s finally coming up with a new feature to counter this.
With this feature, we can choose who can reply to our Tweets. You can set it to people you follow, people mentioned, or everyone. So, here’s how to choose who can reply to our Tweets on Twitter.
It’s easy to choose who can reply to our tweets. When you write a word on Twitter, you get a new option under it where you can set this parameter. This option appears on the Twitter web, Android app, iOS app and almost anywhere you can access Twitter.
This option is set to everyone by default, meaning anyone can reply to your tweets. But you can change it to a person you follow, in this case, only that person can reply to your tweets that you follow. Lastly, you can set it only for the people you mentioned. In this case, no one can reply to your tweet except the person you mentioned in the tweet.
This way, you can choose who can reply to your tweets. Please note that you can select this option before tweeting. Once a tweet is published, you cannot change it.
Red Thread | The new option to choose who can reply to your tweets is a nice addition that gives you control over the replies on your tweets. This is still not a complete solution to fight scammers and trolls on the platform. However this is a good start that could grow into a more visible solution for securing the platform.
