How to Apply for a Trading Business Permit – Every entrepreneur who will run a business is required to have a Trade Business License or more popularly known as SIUP. Apart from being a license to run a business, SIUP has many uses for a business.
Now, for entrepreneurs who do not have a SIUP, you should know in advance how to apply for a trading business license.
The goal is not to be mismanaged.
Although managing SIUP is not easy, SIUP is very important to run a business. SIUP is usually one of the requirements to be able to participate in auction activities held by a company or government.
In addition, this permit is also one of the requirements to facilitate the export-import activities of a business.
Seeing the importance of a trading business license, it is not surprising that the government requires every business to have one. Unfortunately, many entrepreneurs don’t have it because they don’t know how and how much it costs to manage it.
For those who do not have a SIUP, try to learn first the types and how to manage them. Read the description below to the end.
Types of SIUP for a Business
Before studying in detail how to apply for a trading business license, it is better for entrepreneurs to know in advance the types of SIUP that exist. That way, entrepreneurs can know the type of SIUP that must be made.
The following are the types of SIUP based on the size of their business capital:
1. Small SIUP
For those who have small businesses, the type of SIUP that must be owned is a small trade permit. This is a SIUP that is intended for businesses with paid-up capital and a net worth of up to IDR 200,000,000. This nominal is, of course, excluding the land and building where the business is held.
2. Medium SIUP
For businesses that have a paid-up capital and assets greater than Rp 200,000,000, but less than Rp 500,000,000, the type of SIUP that must be owned is a medium trading license. As with small SIUP, this nominal excludes the land and buildings.
3. Big SIUP
The last type that is also widely owned by Indonesian entrepreneurs is a large-scale trade permit.
As the name implies, this SIUP is specifically for large businesses with a capital of more than IDR 500,000,000. So, if the business has grown and is larger in size, then be sure to make this type of SIUP.
Although all businesses are advised to have a SIUP, it turns out that there are also businesses that are not required to have a SIUP. For example, if the business has grown large and has a branch office, then the representative office does not need to make its own SIUP.
Another example is a small company that is managed or run by the owner directly with his relatives. Or small traders like those on the roadside do not need a SIUP to run their business.

How to Apply for a Trade Permit
If you already know the type of SIUP that must be made, then it’s time to know how to apply for a trading business license. For those who don’t want to be bothered, you can just use the services of a notary to make a SIUP until it’s finished.
However, those who do not want to incur additional costs for their services can take care of them independently.
Whichever method you choose, let’s first know how to apply for the correct SIUP as follows:
1. Take the Registration Form
The first thing the registrant has to do is take the form. These sheets must be picked up in person by the business owners at the local trade office.
If the owner cannot immediately take the form, it can be represented to another party. However, make sure you have a power of attorney to take it. Don’t forget to provide stamps too.
2. Fill out the Form
If you have the form in hand, then it’s time to proceed with filling out the form completely and correctly. Make sure each column is filled in correctly and matches the other letters. Because if there are different parts, it can be a problem later on.
If all the fields have been filled in, make sure to provide a stamp of Rp. 6,000 at the bottom.
Please note that only the owner or the President Director can fill out or sign the form. If it is someone else’s signature, then make sure to attach a letter with a special stamp that authorizes the other party.

3. Attaching Other Requirements
In addition to forms, other things that must be prepared by applicants are other requirements that are no less important. Some general requirements that must be met by all types of businesses are a photocopy of the business establishment deed, ID card, nuisance permit, company balance sheet to a plan of the place of business.
All requirements above must be photocopied at least 3 sheets.
Apart from ID cards, there are still several other documents that must be attached, but the documents depend on the type of business registered. So a PT business with a cooperative has different requirements.
So that there is no wrong part, it is better for entrepreneurs to first check all the requirements needed.
4. Pay the SIUP Making Fee
One of the last stages in making SIUP is paying the management fee. The actual amount for administering a SIUP varies, but ranges between IDR 2,000,000.
These fees usually differ between regions, so it’s a good idea to check with the respective regional trade offices.
5. Waiting for Process & Taking SIUP
If all the steps above have been done, then it’s time to wait for the manufacturing process. In general, the submission time until the SIUP is finished is 2 weeks.
However, there are also some areas that can complete the management in just 1 week. So if you need SIUP for auction needs, it’s better not to take care of it in too little time.
Later, when the SIUP has been completed, the Trade Office will inform the owners via email or SMS. If they have received the notification, then the entrepreneurs can take the SIUP at the same place as when they took care of it.

Alternative to Using Notary Services to Manage SIUP
If the process of obtaining a trade business license is deemed too complicated and time-consuming, then entrepreneurs can use the services of a notary to help make SIUP.
Overall the process is the same as the steps above. However, with the help of a notary, business actors do not need to go back and forth or take care of all these steps themselves.
Another advantage of using the services of a notary is that it is cheaper than taking care of yourself. This has the potential to happen because the notary has acquaintances with certain parties, thereby reducing expenses.
In addition, with the help of a notary, the process will be faster and simpler because a notary usually has a team that will assist the process. So, for entrepreneurs who have an instant process in managing SIUP, please use the services of a notary.
That is the brief information on how to take care of a trading business license that can be done by entrepreneurs. The process of taking care of SIUP is actually not complex as long as the registrants know the required requirements.
However, for those who object and do not have time to take care of it, they can ask for help from a third party such as a notary service. In addition to the potentially cheaper price, entrepreneurs do not have to bother taking care of it themselves.
Hope it is useful.
