7 Lesser Known Adobe Apps Worth Downloading

By | March 21, 2022

Adobe offers mobile apps for almost all your creative needs. Whether it’s Photoshop for last minute editing or Illustrator for quick sketches, Adobe has you covered.

Despite the top picks, however, Adobe has built a number of lesser-known applications for a variety of jobs. Here are seven of them.

Adobe Scan

Adobe Scan bills itself as a powerful and portable PDF scanner. For the most part, it lives up to that promise. The app lets you scan various documents, such as business cards and whiteboard scribbles, and comes with a series of smart utilities to make the process less complicated.

For starters, Adobe Scan can automatically recognize most documents you’re trying to capture. That means all you have to do is point your phone in the right direction and Adobe Scan will pick up the document without you pressing or adjusting anything. After clicking on the image, you can edit the result with several cropping tools and filters to increase its clarity.

What’s more, Adobe Scan allows you to stitch together multiple files and form a new PDF from them. Before finalizing, you have the option to sign the document as well. You can continue to take photos and add them to a temporary project.

It even has the ability to parse business cards, which you can then easily store in your phone contacts. Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is available if you want to extract text instead of images.

Adobe Fill & Sign

If you digitally sign and fill out forms on a regular basis, Adobe has an app for you called Fill & Sign. It comes with a number of features that allow you to quickly add text to forms and sign documents. You can import PDF files and images, or take new images.

Once processed, you can overlay fields with text boxes and type without any hassle. Plus, Fill & Sign offers lots of settings like text size and the ability to enter in a box rather than a single string. You can even include a tick and a cross for the checkbox.

After you’ve filled out lots of forms, the app will start suggesting common entries like your name and address so you don’t have to enter them manually.

Adobe Spark Post

Adobe Post Spark is an app for people who want to design professional-grade marketing materials without having to go through advanced tutorials. It houses a variety of templates that you can change instantly to suit your preferences and campaigns. If you’re not happy with that, Spark Post also lets you customize the available elements individually.

That way, you can create your own custom template by choosing the background, aspect ratio, layout and more. In addition, you can add animations for text and generate videos instead of still at the end. Once you are satisfied with the result, you can share your creation on social media or save it in your phone gallery.

Adobe Capture CC

Adobe Capture CC is a somewhat unorthodox camera app, primarily aimed at professionals who want their shots to stand out. This application is able to create visual elements of the world. It does so by letting you capture or shape patterns, colors, and more of the scene through the camera’s viewfinder.

So for example, when you find a unique color in the wild, you can simply launch Capture CC and reproduce it digitally by pointing the camera at it. Apart from that, it has a variety of pattern options that you can use to generate whimsical graphics. There’s a lot of Capture CC you can do once you know how it works, including replicating typography.

This app is part of Adobe’s Creative Cloud, which means all your assets are synced with your cloud account and other Adobe apps. Since the elements you generate are built on a proprietary framework, you’ll need an Adobe account to use them.

Adobe Premiere Clip

Adobe also has a stripped-down mobile partner for its Premiere Pro video editing platform. It’s called Premiere Clip and lets you easily produce movies with your existing library, making it one of the best video editing apps on iOS.

There are two routes you can take when you start a new project — Auto creation or Freeform. The former directs the film for you by intelligently pinpointing the best moments, while the latter puts you in the driver’s seat. It offers lots of editing tools like color grading, cropping, and more.

Since this is an Adobe product, you are required to sign in with an Adobe account first. But luckily, you can edit and download your projects without going out for a subscription.
