Home design planning is a great way to control the aesthetics of your home’s interior. Since this is where you spend the most time, it’s a good idea to tidy up as often as possible.
Thanks to the apps featured below, you can quickly and easily design your home from your smartphone.
Home Design 3D
Home Design 3D is a powerful offering that allows you to plan the interior and exterior of your home. This app allows you to create projects with a completely blank canvas or choose from preset options such as Family House, Holiday House, Vintage Garage Loft, and much more.
Through the transparent directional buttons in the left corner of the app, you can move around the house. The menu on the right lets you choose between 2D and 3D, plus across floors.
From the menu on the left when in 3D view, you can choose between Architecture, Objects, and Textures. This allows you to add new elements to your home design and place them in any position you want, in any room of the house.
The 2D model displays a blueprint of the house, along with the dimensions of each room that you can change to your liking. Through the left menu, you can choose to enable or disable Land Tracing, Room Drawing, and Wall Drawing.
Finally, the menu at the top allows you to enable/disable Snap, Size, and Multi-Selection. Via tab Community, you can find design ideas from other members of the app, or share projects you’ve created with the community.
Icon Shopping Cart allows you to unlock the full version, while the icon Question Mark takes you to a complete tutorial with text and video options available. Finally, the three-dot icon allows you to import or print blueprints, view your project in AR, and share the project or share project screenshots.
Live Home 3D
Live Home 3D has a simple UI, but offers comprehensive home interior planning through a 3D view. By allowing you to work on one room at a time, its simple approach will ensure you don’t get overwhelmed.
The app lets you choose a template, with three blank options providing a 1:50, 1:100, or 1:25 scale. There is also a sample room you can choose from.
Your project opens in 2D, offering a dynamic blueprint of the room that allows you to change the surrounding elements to your liking. Switching to 3D allows you to move any of the elements around, with the transparent directional wheel in the left corner. The slider just to the right controls how high, or low, you view the room from. Finally, you can use a “pinch” motion with your finger to zoom in and out.
The top menu has a number of useful tabs and is where most of the options are located. For example, there are tabs that help you import blueprints or export blueprints within the application, a help button that shows various tutorials, and more.
3D Key Plan
Keyplan 3D is a colorful and simple app that makes home design fun, as well as fast and easy.
When you open the app for the first time, it will give you some quick guides to make sure you have mastered the app. It will also ask if you want to save project data via iCloud or locally.
The free version only lets you create a new plan from scratch; buying the full version gives you access to the demo project.
While in a project, the icon Home in the top left corner takes you back to your project list, the icon Build in the upper right corner allows you to enable/disable Objects Magnet, Walls Magnet, Measurements, etc. And use the slider to change the width and height of the wall. Icon house in the lower right corner takes you to Store, with different pricing options depending on what you’re looking for.
Finally, the bottom toolbar has three tabs: Drawing Mode (which can be enabled or disabled), and the icon Armchair featuring various types of furniture. and icon Blueprint lets you switch between 2D and 3D.
Houzz is a home remodeling social media app centered on architecture, home design, and remodeling. It offers you pictures of renovated home interiors, the opportunity to connect with select home improvement professionals, and discussion boards to chat about home renovation plans or your experiences with other users.
When you first open the app, you’ll be invited to create an account, then choose whether you’re a home owner or a professional in the home improvement market.
Through the top menu, you can see Photos renovated room, or go to tab Pros where you will answer a series of questions and add your zip code to get a list of local professionals. Meanwhile, Stories have a stream of Houzz blogs available to read, and Discussions lets you talk to other app users.
The bottom menu has four tabs: Home, Notifications, Ideabooks, and Profile.

On your profile icon in the bottom menu, you can press the icon Plus in the top right corner to create a Pin or board. choose Board and give it a name, like “Interior Design”. Then, tap the icon Search in the bottom menu to find images related to home designs and add them to the board. This makes it easier to find them again in the future.
